Talbot Street Planter Boxes

June 2020

As we kicked off the 2020 summer season, St. Michaels in Bloom purchased and installed eight large planter boxes along Talbot Street. We have since added several planters to add even more seasonal color for those enjoying a stroll through our town's main street. We select seasonal plant varieties throughout the year for a continually fresh display. We hand water the planters to ensure our plants stay thriving even through the hottest months. Watering is an area where we always welcome volunteers! And we also welcome contributions to help offset the cost of the plant materials.

St. Michaels Welcome Sign Plantings

June 2019

A recent project was the design and installation of evergreen plants and a bed around the "Welcome to St. Michaels" Sign at the beginning of town. The addition of a planter box brings seasonal color to the garden. Plans include maintenance and replenishment of the planters with seasonal plant varieties throughout the year for a continual display of beautiful flowers and plants.

Flower Pots at North Harbor

June 2018

A great example of St. Michaels in Bloom members seeing a spot in St. Michaels that could use a burst of color and creating a solution. These lovely pots located near the waterman's dock near Chew Avenue are planted and maintained by only a few people. Have an idea for a project? Click the pink box above and send us a message.

Paper Daffodil Workshop

January 2018

St. Michaels in Bloom members got together to make dozens of paper daffodils to distribute to businesses in town to display with Daffodil Festival rack cards. Please let us know if you want one for your business!

Holiday Wreaths at the "Acme" Building

December 2017

We had fun decorating the Acme grocery store building in town with beautiful holiday wreaths to brighten everyone's season! The Acme is now a new multi-store shopping center, and we were able to SPRUCE up the place during its transition :)

Winter Greens Workshop and Wreath Sale

November 2017

In anticipation of our town's annual Midnight Madness and Christmas in St. Michaels events, the volunteers of St. Michaels in Bloom decorated our Honeymoon Bridge baskets and other favorite spots throughout the town with festive holiday swags. We hosted a "greens workshop" on November 27th and 28th for folks interested in helping design the swags. We also sold ribboned evergreen wreaths to local businesses to display for the upcoming festivities. The town was indeed 'in bloom' in spite of it being winter!

Daffodil Planting

November 2017

In anticipation of our inaugural community event--our Daffodil Festival in April 2018--our volunteers planted over 20,000 daffodils throughout the town of St. Michaels. That's A LOT of bulbs and hard work!!! St. Michaels community groups, merchants, and residents were encouraged to show support through the display of daffodils and through participation in the Daffodil Festival Events.

Haystack Baskets on Honeymoon Bridge

September 2017

The first project undertaken by the volunteers of St. Michaels in Bloom resulted in the installation of 16 haystack-type baskets and autumn flower plantings along Honeymoon Bridge at the end of Cherry Street. Inaugural plans included maintenance and replenishment of the planters with seasonal plant varieties throughout the year for a continual display of beautiful flowers and plants. The baskets remain a beloved and central installation of St. Michaels in Bloom throughout the seasons each year!
