St. Michaels In Bloom is a newly formed community organization dedicated to the beautification of St. Michaels. Consisting solely of volunteers, St. Michaels in Bloom works to create a welcoming and vibrant landscape for our town through the planting colorful flowers, plants and trees throughout our business and community districts.
St. Michaels Welcome Sign Plantings
Our most recent project was the design and installation of evergreen plants and a bed around the "Welcome to St. Michaels" Sign at the beginning of town. The addition of a planter box brings seasonal color to the garden. Plans include maintenance and replenishment of the planters with seasonal plant varieties throughout the year for a continual display of beautiful flowers and plants.
Flower Pots at North Harbor
A great example of St. Michaels in Bloom members seeing a spot in St. Michaels that could use a burst of color and creating a solution. These lovely pots located near the waterman's dock near Chew Avenue are planted and maintained by only a few people. Have an idea for a project? Click the pink box above and send us a message.
Hay Baskets on Honeymoon Bridge
The first project undertaken by St. Michaels in Bloom resulted in the installation of 16 Hay Baskets and autumn flower plantings along Honeymoon Bridge. Plans include maintenance and replenishment of the planters with seasonal plant varieties throughout the year for a continual display of beautiful flowers and plants.
In preparation for the wonderful Christmas events in the Town of St. Michaels, including Midnight Madness on December 2nd and Christmas in St. Michaels Weekend December 8-10, St. Michaels in Bloom sold lovely, healthy, evergreen wreaths to Talbot Street businesses.
Our second community project, currently underway, is the 2018 Daffodil Festival scheduled for next April which included the planting of over 20,000 daffodils throughout the town of St. Michaels as well as festivities designed to encourage visitors and to benefit residents and businesses alike. St. Michaels Community groups, merchants, and residents were encouraged to show support through the display of daffodils and through participation in our Daffodil Festival Events.
As we get ready to celebrate Midnight Madness and Christmas in St. Michaels, we will decorate Hay Baskets on Honeymoon Bridge and favorite spots throughout the town with holiday swags. Join us for a greens workshop on November 27th and 28th.
Christmas Wreaths at the "Acme" Building
Did you spot the beautiful beribboned wreaths hanging in the windows of the former Acme building. St. Michaels in Bloom had a little something to do with that : ) Happy holidays!
Paper Daffodil Workshop
St. Michaels in Bloom members got together to make dozens of paper daffodils to distribute to businesses in town to display with Daffodil Festival rack cards. Please let us know if you want one for your business!
